Why care about ceremonial cacao?
In essence ceremonial cacao is a beautiful heart opening medicine that I have worked a lot with (on my own) that has noticeable effects in a gentle way.
However, it is also a medicine that belongs to Indigenous people and as such it can be hard to find an ethical product that works WITH the Indigenous carriers of this medicine.
There is a lot at stake because Indigenous people aside, if we do not preserve the authentic 'medicine' we get diluted hybrid plants that do not hold the true medicinal powers. Ceremonial cacao affects several Indigenous groups in different countries and has become increasingly popular in the West, which comes with its own issues.
As people buying and using these products we have deep responsibility for doing our best to support a product that support the Indigenous growers and does good.
